Open Coaching Sessions
In the summer we run sessions on Tuesday evenings at 17:30 for under 25s only, on Wednesday evenings at 18:00 for all archers and on the first Saturday of the month at 10:00 for all archers.
In the winter months we run the first Saturday of the month sessions, and sometimes other Saturdays as well.
The coaches can offer you structured and monitored coaching, or will just help as necessary with particular issues. Coaches can help with technique, equipment, awards and competition preparation.
Coaching is free to members when carried out by our own coaches. There is no need to book. Feel free to come and meet the coaching team and discuss how they can help you.
Normally the Wednesday and Saturday sessions only use part of the field. The rest of the field is open to archers who wish to come and shoot.
Mini-Courses
Bite Sized Coaching
Running over about 12 sessions on Wednesdays and Saturdays we have so far run this in 2024 and 2026. Our bite sized coaching consists of half-hour sessions looking into one particular aspect of shooting technique or archery equipment. The topics align approximately with the topics listed in the Coaching Passport. If you want other topics covered please tell the coaching team.
Bite Sized coaching for 2027 is scheduled to run on Wednesday evenings in June and July.
Meanwhile, two additional (bigger bite) sessions have been arranged as follows:
Saturday 21st November, 10:00 at Foxes Den then retiring to the club, to teach you a bit about how your bow affects your shot. Sign up here:
Saturday 12th December, 10:00 at Foxes Den then retiring to the club, to teach you a bit about how your technique affects your shot. Sign up here:
Introduction to Barebow
Barebow shooting has proved very popular at the club in recent years, and we have some very accomplished barebow shooters in our membership.
This mini-course lasts about 2 hours and will introduce you to the barebow rules, anchoring technique, how to establish your “point on” distance, how to shoot at distances shorter and longer than this, and other aiming techniques. This course has been run twice in 2026 and will be run again in 2027.
